This is an opportunity for four combat-wounded veterans to Join NPLB on a six-day trip to Alaska to hike up its Gold Star Peak, fish, jet ski, take float plane tours, and more. Veterans will enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to relax, get a little workout, and enjoy other activities while establishing camaraderie that will last them a lifetime and, most importantly, focus on their healing.
These events are to help veterans heal in a way that best suits them. We take care of everything for the veteran. All they have to do is relax and enjoy everything this event offers.
We know that everyone is different and that we all heal differently. As a combat-wounded veteran myself, I can tell you that it is much easier to open up to another veteran than to a civilian. That is not just because we all served in the military but because we have gone through similar traumas if not the same ones.
Upon completing the event, veterans feel rested, relaxed and at peace. Sometimes, after making some new connections, veterans feel better and start being a part of their communities again after talking to veterans and learning some new techniques and ways to handle the different stresses.
