Project Summary:
In today’s digital landscape, access to technology is not a luxury—it is a fundamental necessity. While younger generations are immersed in the use of digital tools, many seniors remain excluded due to financial constraints, physical limitations, and lack of exposure. This digital divide contributes to social isolation, deteriorating mental health, and a diminished quality of life for older adults.
Mommy & Daddy’s Little Angels Youth and Family Services Inc. seeks to close this gap through a visionary partnership with Apple Inc. Our proposed initiative will empower twenty seniors by providing ten Apple iPads alongside a suite of hands-on, community-centered learning opportunities. This project goes far beyond device distribution; it is about restoring independence, reducing loneliness, and creating pathways to lifelong learning and wellness.
Project Rationale and Community Need:
Older adults in underserved communities face systemic exclusion from digital resources. With minimal access to online healthcare, communication tools, or educational content, many seniors are left behind—feeling disconnected, overlooked, and under-supported. This proposal directly responds to those needs by equipping participants with intuitive, accessible iPads and comprehensive training in their use.
Apple's iPads, known for their user-friendly interfaces, voice control, and built-in assistive technology, provide a powerful gateway to re-engagement with family, services, and culture. Seniors will learn to send messages, make video calls, manage healthcare appointments, and navigate the internet independently. By doing so, we empower them to regain autonomy and reenter digital society with confidence.
Program Overview:
The initiative will include the distribution of 10 iPads to 20 seniors, who will be paired in a peer-learning model. Each device will be loaded with applications that support telehealth, communication, education, and entertainment. Program highlights include:
Monthly technology literacy workshops led by trained instructors and youth volunteers
Guided lessons on Apple Health tools, reminders, FaceTime, and messaging apps
Culturally relevant virtual travel experiences that connect seniors with new cultures and familiar memories
Interactive group sessions that build confidence and promote intergenerational relationships
The initiative will launch with a summer kickoff series of community-based outdoor workshops in Brooklyn and Staten Island, engaging seniors in a safe, supportive learning environment.
Expected Outcomes:
100% of participating seniors will gain basic digital literacy and confidence in navigating their iPads.
75% will engage in weekly communication with family and peers using digital platforms.
60% will use their devices for telehealth, reminders, or healthcare management tools.
Participants will report a 70% reduction in feelings of isolation through follow-up assessments and interviews.
Beyond individual impact, the program will create a culture of peer mentorship and community learning, fostering ongoing engagement.
Impact and Alignment with Apple’s Mission:
Apple has long championed innovation, accessibility, and human-centered technology. This program exemplifies those values by placing intuitive, life-changing devices into the hands of those who need them most. The partnership will demonstrate Apple’s commitment to age-inclusive technology access and its transformative power in real communities.
We will share success stories and participant testimonials through digital platforms, newsletters, and social media, celebrating Apple’s role in transforming lives. Your investment will be publicly recognized, and your brand will be associated with a powerful story of equity, empowerment, and inclusion.
Request and Budget Justification:
We respectfully request a $50,000 donation to support:
Procurement of ten iPads and related accessories
Staffing for workshop facilitation and technical support
Development of training materials and curriculum
Community engagement events and outreach
Follow-up support and monitoring for seniors post-training
This investment will ensure a robust launch and provide a replicable model that can be expanded citywide.
Conclusion:
This initiative is not simply about technologyit is about justice, dignity, and inclusion. By partnering with Mommy & Daddy’s Little Angels Youth and Family Services Inc., Apple will play a direct role in rewriting the narrative for seniors, proving that age is not a barrier to innovation.
We invite Apple to be a cornerstone in this movement to create lasting, systemic change. Together, we can uplift seniors, strengthen communities, and build a more inclusive digital future.
Thank you for your vision, your leadership, and your support.
