Convoy of Hope Sends Relief in Response to Northeast Flooding

Convoy of Hope is responding to devastating flooding in the Northeastern United States. Thousands of pounds of relief supplies, including food, water, cleaning supplies, and hygiene items, are en route to the affected area. These vital resources will help take some of the burden off of families as they start to recover from the destruction of the floods.

Over the past month, the region has experienced 200% to 300% of its average monthly rainfall, leading to disastrous flooding in parts of Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

In Pennsylvania, at least five people lost their lives in a flash flooding event on Saturday evening. There is a risk of more floods as additional rain heads toward the area.

“These storms are biblical in terms of the torrential rainfall you get, and they’re happening more and more frequently,” Ned Lamont, Governor of Connecticut, said in a news conference on Sunday.

In New York, at least six counties are under state-of-emergency declarations.

“A flash flood doesn’t give you warning. It comes literally in a flash,” New York Governor Kathy Hochul said. “And in those moments, your car can go from a place of safety to a place of death.”
