SPRINGFIELD, MO.As details about the water crisis in Newark, New Jersey, come to light, Convoy of Hope is increasing our response to the situation. The city of Newark has distributed more than 38,000 water filters to residents, but questions regarding their effectiveness has prompted people to continue drinking bottled water. In a recent statement, the Natural Resources Defense Council made the recommendation that bottled water should be distributed to all of the city's 285,000 residents.

Convoy has sent 15 trucks of water that will be distributed through local partners. While we are helping in this very real crisis, additional funds are needed to continue our response. Local leadership is hoping to have a solution in place soon, and we are committed to helping the people of Newark until a permanent fix is in place.

SPRINGFIELD, MO. Officials of Newark, New Jersey, recently ordered more than 15,000 residents to drink only bottled water due to high levels of lead in the municipal drinking water. This contaminated water has affected tens of thousands of residents in the West and South Wards and parts of the Central and North Wards of the city. Convoy of Hope is responding to the situation in coordination with city leadership, churches, and other partners. Four truckloads of water have been sent to Newark city officials to distribute. We also have six additional trucks scheduled to deliver to local partners and city officials next week.
