Hope on Short Final was founded in March of 2022 by a pilot and veteran in response to a "Hey I have an idea" airlift mission that was flown in December 2021. This mission was in response to the devastating tornadoes that greatly impacted the Madisonville, Kentucky area. Pilots in general aviation are always looking for a purpose and a really good reason to take to the skies. The aviation community response was incredible and thus, the cause was born. We are a public charity, 501(c)(3) organization that connects pilots, volunteers, aircraft, and supplies to coordinate for an "on the ground" presence within hours of natural disasters. Sometimes, the only access is by air, as demonstrated by Hurricane Ian in September of 2022. We seek to positively impact communities in great need within hours, not weeks. We do so by airlifting much needed supplies to affected communities and coordinating with airport personnel for distribution. Short Final is defined as the last seconds in an aircraft approach to an airfield for landing, and we want the community to hear and see us making that approach with Hope.
