Incorporated in 1993, Kentucky Habitat for Humanity. Inc. is the state organization supporting a network of 39 Habitat affiliates located in 49 Kentucky counties. Habitat newly constructs, rehabs, and repairs an average of 250 units annually for first time homebuyers who earn 60% and below the area median income of the service area. To date, Habitat in Kentucky has newly constructed, rehabbed and repaired over 4,600 housing units, serving 16,000 Kentucky adults and children, provided six million service hours for our volunteers and has a total impact of over $200M in affordable housing. Habitat is a hand up, not a hand out. Our homes are not free. Each potential homebuyer must qualify based upon their income, work, credit and debt history, ability to repay a 0% interest mortgage over a 20-30 year term, and have a need for a simple, decent, and affordable home. Since 2015, Habitat has served over 200 veterans and their families through our Hammers for Heroes program. We. have also been very active in rebuilding total communities and lives after the 2021 WKY tornado's and the July 2022 EKY flooding. We are a partner in multiple statewide coalitions working to make the lives of all Kentuckians better, safer, healthier and more productive.
