Harrodsburg KY 250th Celebration

, HARRODSBURG HISTORICAL SOCIETY

Harrodsburg 250th, Inc. was formed to coordinate the activities of various organizations that are cooperating in the planning of events and programs for the week of June 8- 16, 2024 and the months leading up to it. Members of the Board represent the HarrodsburgMercer County Tourism Commission, Mercer County Chamber of Commerce, Harrodsburg Historical Society, Mercer County Public Library, Harrodsburg First, Campbellsville University, the County Fair and Horse Show, the Arts Council, Old Fort Harrod State Park, the Lions and Rotary Clubs, and the James Harrod Trust.
The 2024 celebration will include popular music concerts and modern features such as food trucks and inflatables for children. Old Fort Harrod will host reenactors throughout the weekend and will present a play based on Harrodsburg's early history. The James Harrod Trust is updating its walking and driving tours and making them available online through a new website. The Arts Council, along with other groups such as the Tree Board, are working to beautify the town and improve unsightly areas. The Public Library will offer exhibits and family-centered activities and sponsor a locally authored courtroom drama, 17ie Trial of James Bndges, about a man accused of murdering James Harrod. The Harrodsburg Historical Society's programs include tea parties and tavern drinks with historical characters, a showcase of student presentations on local history, guided walking tours and a ghost tour, 19th century children's games, a concert of music through the centuries, book signings, and a church service at Old Mud Meeting House. Whether the visitor wants to be immersed in food and fun or in history, Harrodsburg 250th will fill the bill.
