Volunteers of America-Greater New York

Volunteers of America-Greater New York is the largest local affiliate of the national organization, Volunteers of America Inc. We have 80 social service programs serving thousands of men, women and children in need in all five boroughs of New York City, Westchester and Northern New Jersey. Our services provide life-changing, often life-saving work to individuals - including veterans - who are homeless and families that are homeless or escaping domestic violence. We are the largest providers of permanent, supportive, affordable housing for formerly homeless veterans in NYC and our community service campaign, Operation Backpack®, engages the corporate community and thousands of individuals in its effort to ensure that every school-age child living in a NYC homeless or domestic violence shelter has a beautiful new backpack, filled with every school supply they need to complete their work and to look and feel more like their classmates and less like a child in need.
