When natural disasters strike in the United States, Samaritan's Purse sends volunteer teams to help homeowners recover. Our focus is serving uninsured, underinsured, elderly, disabled, and single parent families—those who cannot do this work on their own. After the initial clean-up phase, we sometimes return to some of the hardest-hit communities to help families with permanent repairs, rebuilds, or even newly constructed homes. In 2016, Samaritan’s Purse helped 1,707 families pick up the pieces in the aftermath of a natural disaster.
