Samaritan's Purse works to provide comfort and practical support to families fleeing from war—whether they are refugees or internally displaced people. These crises are complex and change rapidly. We adapt our response to meet the most urgent needs in each context, providing families with food, water, clothing, shelter, bedding, and other necessities.
In Greece, our staff provide winter clothing, food rations, hygiene kits, and other supplies to 61,000 migrants—most of whom fled the civil war in Syria. In Iraq, we are providing food, clothing, medical care, livelihood training, and children’s programs for people displaced by ISIS. In the northeastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where the Lord's Resistance Army has displaced entire communities, Samaritan's Purse distributes emergency rations of food, provides agricultural tools and training, and drills freshwater wells. Fighting in South Sudan has caused thousands of people to leave their homes. Samaritan’s Purse is meeting the emergency needs of over 200,000 South Sudanese refugees living in Uganda and hundreds of thousands of displaced people within South Sudan.
