Veteran Mobility for Rural, Impoverished, & Disabled Veterans

, VETFUEL INC

VetFuel was created due to what we saw as geographic health disparity in veteran populations. Peer reviewed papers have been written on the subject, but a serendipitous moment was shortly realized after our creation. On April 15, 2015 a veteran threw himself into highway traffic because he ran out of gas on the way to the V.A.

We knew we were needed, we didn't know how much until this happened, and we really doubled down on our efforts to increase transportation options for veterans. The inset photo shows the scene from that day. The veteran lived, despite throwing himself in front of a car at highway speeds. On average, VetFuel provides for $20,000.00 to $30,000.00 in transportation services every year. This can be an Uber or Lyft, a gas card, a ride sharing plan, the purchase of a mountain bike, a power chair, or similar mobility device, to something as simple as a bus pass. The goal here is not to simply give out gas cards. The goal here is to increase mobility, decrease geographic health disparity, while decreasing years project life lost in the participant population. Impoverished veterans rose from 14 percent of the total veteran population in 2025
