A new initiative will take the healing impact of small group writing deep into the community to work with returning citizens, immigrants, new mothers, veterans, and cancer survivors, as well as community members experiencing grief and loss, incarceration, mental health crisis and addiction recovery.
Our annual intergenerational Winter Writing Camp offers a friendly, high energy day of fun writing activities for kids, teens and adults. Participants spend the day with peer groups learning from regional authors, then come together for cookies and open mic. Adults, often trying their hand at something new, are inspired by kids who are writing poetry or a novel for their own creative expression. Children and teens enjoy meeting others who are also passionate about reading and writing.
Lit Youngstown, the only literary arts nonprofit in the Youngstown area, balances a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment with the highest standards for creative integrity and accountability.
