We will provide computer literacy, basic software training & job readiness classes to men, women and youth (18-24) experiencing homelessness or recovering from homelessness. These services fit with our existing mission and will allow us to maximize the impact of our new computer lab for those who would benefit most from it as a resource. For many of our clients, especially those recovering from chronic homelessness or trying to break the cycle of poverty, they lack experience using a computer. Even the most basic e-training can improve a persons ability to communicate, opening up opportunities for life-improvement! Just as the installation of the computer lab uses the power of technology to benefit our community, this project also uses technology to connect people and educate utilizing technology. We have come to learn that education, mentoring & providing practical life-skills & programs is the most efficient way to help someone struggling with poverty and homelessness. Helping people find and sustain employment leads to self sufficiency. An on-site job specialist will help connect clients to employment opportunities.
