Sailing FYI is a program of Foundations FYI that uses shared sailing, boating, fishing, and lake-based experiences to help families communicate, reconnect, and identify practical needs that may be affecting their stability.
Since 2018, Sailing FYI has created supportive opportunities for youth, parents, caregivers, veterans, people in recovery, and families facing hardship to spend meaningful time together in a setting that encourages conversation, trust, teamwork, and hope.
The experience on the water creates space for families to slow down, communicate more openly, and recognize challenges that may be difficult to discuss in everyday life. Foundations FYI team members can then help participants identify available community resources, recovery supports, family services, transportation assistance, food programs, housing resources, and other forms of practical help.
Activities may include sailing outings, family boating days, fishing, team-building, meals, and guided conversations focused on communication, family relationships, problem-solving, and next steps.
Donations will support boat maintenance, fuel, safety equipment, insurance, storage, participant meals, transportation assistance, outreach materials, volunteer support, and resource-navigation follow-up for participating families.
Sailing FYI is designed to strengthen family relationships while connecting participants with practical resources that can help them move toward greater stability.
