Liberty Place collaborates with the Veterans Court of Southern Indiana to help veterans enter back into society, independently but with access to and the support of mentors and program partners. Our secured residential facility includes sixteen private living spaces (including TV, bed and bedding, dresser, recliner, small refrigerator, closet and individual heating and air) with private bathrooms (furnished with shower, sink, toilet, towels, washcloths, soap and shampoo), plus a common area and recreation room, an exercise room, laundry area, outdoor space including a garden area and more. Meals and snacks are provided, and support staff are available 24/7.
A typical residency is 12 – 18 months. Liberty Place residents are asked to pay rent while in the transitional program. Many are unemployed or ineligible for VA benefits upon arrival, with no support or available living options. Our staff provides resources and assists as needed to help each veteran find funding and other support needed for residency at Liberty Place.
The goal is for every resident to:
-Comply with the program requirements at Liberty Place
-Gain or regain the life skills needed to be restored as a valuable, productive member of the community
-Have access to support groups, counseling and treatment services to assist with safe and sober living
-Eventually transition into the community.
