The Palm Springs Air Museum is a non-profit living history educational museum that contains over 75 vintage airframes. These run the gamut from a scale version of the Wright Brothers' Kitty Hawk, across the military spectrum from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, & the F-117 Stealth Fighter used during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm to significant civilian aircraft like Clay Lacy’s Lear 24 and Walt Disney’s Grumman Gulfstream 1. Many aircraft are airworthy and fly regularly. The planes are housed inside 91,000 square feet of open hangars and on the tarmac. Except for planes undergoing engine maintenance, there are no ropes holding visitors back from these aircraft. Café, 12,500 volume library and additional displays and memorabilia are located throughout the 10 acre facility. The Museum is open daily from 10 AM until 5 PM, closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and on the annual gala day in February. Kids 12 and under get in free with paid adult admission. Active military and their immediate family and special needs populations receive free admission. The museum has an extensive Education department and schools receive free guided tours with lunch and reimbursed busing costs. High school interns work with our restoration volunteers; and we have a new partnership with a local college Education department for year long interns that help with guided youth tours. Other education programs are First Flight and Young Science Professional Scholarships. Warbird rides are on sale, and can be booked through our website. The Museum hosts weekly commemorative education programs on Saturdays from November through May. Highlights of the Museum include the Tuskegee Airmen exhibit and the Vietnam POW Bracelet Display. The Museum has a complete line of Grumman cat aircraft. Our YouTube channel has hundreds of educational videos for the general public.
