The Orange County Curling Club was established as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in 2010 by a group of dedicated volunteers to bring the sport of curling to the Orange County region. Since its inception the club has steadily grown and currently boasts over 110 active members.
As an arena ice curling club currently based out of Lakewood, the OCCC runs two leagues per week and frequently hosts Learn to Curl classes to introduce the sport to as many new curlers as possible. In the past the club has held many local and international competitions, drawing curlers from all over North America and beyond who want to experience this fun and accessible winter sport in Southern California. During the 2020 Olympics the club introduced the sport of curling to over 900 people.
There is tremendous growth potential for curling in southern California, especially Orange County. However, as an arena-based curling club, the OCCC's ability to grow beyond what is currently offered is greatly limited by the lack of available ice suitable for curling.
Since 2018 the OCCC has explored the feasibility of building its own dedicated curling facility and is confident, based on growth models and financial projections, that a dedicated ice facility would attract unprecedented growth among new and experienced curlers alike. The time is now for dedicated curling ice in Orange County.
