Wendy Mattes founded Jasper Ridge Farm in 2009 after a little girl she was giving horseback riding lessons to developed a brain tumor. When this girl was no longer physically able to travel, Wendy brought a miniature horse to her home. That experience impacted Wendy and she knew immediately she wanted to bring special experiences like that to other children in need.

That experience impacted Wendy and she knew immediately she wanted to bring special experiences like that to other children in need.

At Jasper Ridge Farm our goal is to bring unique experiences through therapeutic interaction with horses and gentle farm animals to children and adults who are facing physical and emotional challenges. We strive to enrich the lives of our clients through the comfort and unconditional acceptance that interacting with animals can provide for people. We are dedicated to offering programs that encourage and facilitate interactions that allow our clients to take a break from their current life circumstances and experience the joy and healing that spending time with animals can provide.
Who we serve:
Serving San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, we provide programs for children with special needs or facing life-threatening illness, families dealing with homelessness or domestic violence, youth struggling with mental health issues, veterans and active military, many of whom suffer from PTSD or traumatic brain injury, and incarcerated women.
