Fair Housing Summit

, STRENGTHEN ORLANDO INC

Each year we commemorate the 1968 passage of the federal Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination in housing. Attempts to pass a fair housing bill in 1966 and 1967 failed due to a widespread lack of support in the Senate. Last year’s Fair Housing and Community Development Summit attendees were made up of a diverse group of leaders in our community. Recent trends in discrimination complaints filed with the Fair Housing Assistance Program suggest that members of our community, at all levels, are not sufficiently informed of the housing rights of individuals.

Our two-day summit is filled with intense workshops, featuring innovative and powerful keynote speakers. Members of the community, local government administrators, local housing providers, property managers, attorneys, real estate agents, mortgage lenders, non-profits, developers, builders, and fair housing advocates will come together to experience a conference that will educate, engage, and motivate. The topics range from Affirmatively Further Fair Housing to creating accessible homes and inclusive sustainable diverse communities.
