The Augusta Worship Center AWC Cares program was founded in 2019 as a charitable entity of Augusta Worship Center (AWC), CLGI to provide our community much-needed resources. The organization was founded by our pastor and community leader, Bishop James W. Johnson, Jr. The overarching belief was that the community surrounding the church needed assistance in many more areas in addition to the gospel. The founding of AWC Cares was a message to the surrounding community that, “We see you and we care.”
Since it was established in 2009, AWC has a strong legacy of outreach. It has been affectionately known as "a place of grace." Not only do guests experience a gospel that is life-changing, they also are welcomed by a spirited warmth that says we’re here to serve you. The church has led many community service events and campaigns to support Augusta youth and families in need. From backpack giveaways and soup kitchens to health seminars and meals, we have always sought ways to reach out to help.
Our church is well equipped with professional educators, health care workers, event coordinators, and project managers. We see AWC Cares as the perfect opportunity to match our capabilities with the needs of our community. AWC Cares gives us a greater platform to expand our reach into Augusta neighborhoods to help those who are most in need. We firmly believe that we can change the world through one act of kindness at a time.
AWC Cares offers assistance through support in the following areas: Outreach, Food Pantry, Scholarships and Ministries. It is our hope that AWC Cares will become a catalyst for positive change in the greater Augusta community.
