OPPORTUNITY HOUSE

Nationally, almost 40 million people, including 13 million children, live in poverty. The same number were experienced hunger or were uncertain about their next meal.

Homelessness and hunger are real and these issues exist in Berks County. Over 2,000 students don’t have a a permanent home for part or all of the school year. Losing a job or a medical crisis can push our neighbors to the brink of homelessness.

Opportunity House has been helping the homeless population of our area since 1984. Our emergency shelter serves homeless men, women, families, and Veterans. We also offer a Keystone 4 Stars early learning center that allows parents to work or continue their education to provide a better future for their family. OppShop, our retail thrift store provides essential funds to support our programs and services at Opportunity House.
