HEADING HOME

Heading Home is a New Mexico non-profit that provides shelter and housing services to people experiencing homelessness. Heading Home programs include permanent supportive housing through the Albuquerque Heading Home, Family Housing Assistance and ABQ StreetConnect initiatives, and emergency shelter and care at the Westside Emergency Housing Center (families, women and men) and Albuquerque Opportunity Center. The latter center hosts a men’s emergency shelter program, a 24/7 medical respite care program and a veterans transitional housing program. During the height of the COVID Pandemic, Heading Home responded by providing several non-congregate alternatives to shelter referred to as Wellness Hotels. Heading Home continues to operate a hotel that currently houses 94 families experiencing homelessness.
