Girls Shine Bright is a creative arts–based experiential learning program that empowers girls to create, collaborate, and lead through storytelling, design, and creative art projects.
By blending creative expression, leadership development, and community building, the program helps girls transform imagination into action and creativity into contribution. Participants engage in projects such as our past project, The Girls Shine Bright Empowerment Card Deck, and our current project, Kayla’s Book Project—a humorous, co-creative illustrated book developed with a teen artist. Participants take part in every stage of creation—from concept and design to editing, publishing, and public sharing. Finished books and card decks are shared with family and friends and donated to the broader community through Little Free Libraries, schools, and local organizations to extend their reach and help make art and inspiration accessible to more families.
The next phase, a program for teens focused on creative arts leadership, will guide girls to use art as a form of leadership. Participants will create original works—from poetry and visual art to short videos—and design experiences that inspire and connect others. Through mentorship and multi-age collaboration, they’ll strengthen their creative facilitation, communication, and organizational skills—learning to empower others through creativity.
Each Girls Shine Bright project integrates the arts, leadership, and real-life skills to nurture confident young changemakers who lead with compassion, curiosity, and creativity—helping communities shine brighter together.
