Through performances created collaboratively by experts in and outside of the arts, Kaimera Productions [kai-mee-rah] provides platforms for audiences to come together in dialogue and examine some of the hardest questions our global society faces.
Kaimera creates original performances and live experiences that blend theater, music, dance, multimedia, visual arts and more. Along with presenting work in traditional performance spaces, we often choose more unconventional settings, such as abandoned locations, historical monuments, public spaces, etc.
In addition to creating its own work, Kaimera also produces the work of others whose mission, vision and aesthetic choices align with those of our own. Using our resources and wide international network, we partner with other companies and organizations to support the work they originate.
We share our work and process by working with students at K-12, university and graduate levels, as well as by leading intensives at theaters and arts & community organizations.
Kaimera’s team hails from, and has worked, all over the globe. We aim to have an international reach while maintaining strong roots in local communities. Current projects in development include: The Living Altar Project, DATAPRINT, and SPACES. The Living Altar Project is a multi-disciplinary performance piece honoring the lives of individuals killed in conflict, whether military or civilian, and regardless of origin, gender, religion, status, or profession. Through a series of successive 30-minute performance pieces called “Living Altars”, casualties are given a name, a face, a story, and equal value. DATAPRINT is an immersive installation-type performance that blends theater, music, dance, and multimedia, and invites audiences to examine the impact of their online fingerprint, as well as question the ethics of data privacy. Data technology is developing at a skyrocketing rate, but policy and ethics conversations are struggling to catch up. DATAPRINT aims to spark dialogue about data privacy, about the ways in which our online behavior defines who we are, and about the implications of the new data world on society, and on democracy. SPACES is an ongoing Kaimera Productions initiative, which aims to rediscover history witnessed by the spaces that frame our daily lives through immersive performances.
