Homes for the Brave

Applied Behavioral Rehabilitation Institute (dba Homes for the Brave)’s mission is provide the housing and services necessary to help homeless individuals, primarily Veterans, return to a productive and meaningful life. Our vision is to provide a model to enable homeless men, women and their families, especially those who have served our country, to attain safe, affordable housing, meaningful life activity and a livable income so that they may return to a productive and meaningful life. In order to further our mission, ABRI currently operates seven programs, including four housing programs and three programs that provide other services to Veterans. These include Homes for the Brave and HFTB West Haven, which provide transitional housing for male Veterans experiencing homelessness; Madaras House (Female Soldiers: Forgotten Heroes), which provides transitional housing for female Veterans and their children; and the Waldorf Permanent Housing Program, which provides permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals. Non-housing programs include the HFTB Veterans Service Center, which provides immediate basic needs services and referrals for Veterans who are experiencing housing instability, the Clinical Treatment Program, which offers clinical counseling for Veterans and their families in the Bridgeport area dealing with mental health or substance use issues, and the Training for Success Vocational and Educational Program, which provides support to Veterans seeking employment and education to increase their income.
