VFI has always been a leader in providing innovative and ground-breaking solutions to the variety of issues that involve our veterans, active duty military, their spouses and families. Dating to its creation in 1980, VFI has been intimately involved in the research and development of projects to benefit our veterans across numerous disciplines.
VFI has:
Funded research into the use of PTSD as a legal defense in criminal cases and extended its expertise to foreign researchers making the first attempts to diagnose their own veterans returning from Afghanistan with the disorder;
Created mobile community care programs targeting the children and families of veterans who had no access to proper medical care, housing, or social services;
Designed and implemented, with the Department of Veteran Affairs, a series of events to provide “one-stop shopping” for homeless veterans in need of social services, counseling, government assistance, and housing.
Raised funds for job-training programs for veterans;
Developed programs to provide business attire for veterans who complete rehabilitative training as an aid to seeking full-time employment;
Produced a nationally televised awards show honoring veterans;
Financed and produced multiple awareness-building events such as bringing the "Traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial" Wall to cites such as Beverly Hills CA and Venice Beach CA.
