Establish and improve multi-faceted, community-led, cancer screening and prevention strategies in hard-to-reach, vulnerable populations to reduce health-related disparities with education, pathways to changed behavior and by promoting the wellness and healthier living of entire communities. By encouraging the strategy of shared resources--intellectual, financial and social, as a working collaborative with shared outcomes, A.A.P.C.I. approach is self-replicating. Before our efforts many of the 28 collaborative partners had never worked together. By working together each organization amplified their own reach, resources and effectiveness.
A.A.P.C.I. provides cancer screenings for prostate (PSA, DRE), breast (CBE, mammograms), and colorectal cancers (FIT kits) targeted to hard-to-reach, at-risk populations.
We use much sought after fresh produce, vision (exams, prescription lens and frames) and dental services as incentives to cancer screenings; Cooking and nutrition demos by a registered dietician, cookbooks, and smoking cessation kits.
