Moving Parts consists of a company of 11 performing movement artists. These dancers work together under the choreographic direction of founder, Sydney Blanchard, to create original, contemporary dance works that explore social questions. These works are available to the greater public for either free, donation, or sliding scale with a NOTAFLOF policy.
Moving Parts is also a dance school educating primarily adults in non-competitive, trauma-aware, and injury preventative dance curriculums through weekly drop-in classes, 8 week cohort series, and guest workshops led by an array of professionals. These classes are available all at sliding scale rates with scholarships slots awarded to prioritize BIPOC dancers.
The mission of this project is to nurture a community of embodied, autonomous movement artists, to reclaim dance studio culture, and to present works that explore the queer experience.
