Founded in 2022 by two former TOPGUN instructors and their spouses, the Ready Room Project exists to fill in the gaps that help military kids thrive.
Though they don’t wear a uniform, children of active duty military service members endure unique hardships related to a family member’s military career. Frequent moves, long deployments, and unpredictable family schedules create academic disruption, social challenges, and economic stress for military kids and their families. The Ready Room Project comes alongside those families, working with parents and teachers to fund experiences that might otherwise be out of reach in support of military kids' academic and personal dreams.
Our vision is that military kids should be able to pursue their dreams! They make many sacrifices so that a parent or guardian can serve our country. We want to see them THRIVE.
We know that academic enrichment and out-of-the-box (or classroom!) experiences can light up a child's curiosity and expand their worldview. Opportunities like STEM camps, special field trips, robotics clubs at school, and early childhood education can make a significant impact on a child's academic future. Unfortunately, those opportunities are often out of reach for active duty military kids due to the financial limitations of a parent's military career, and the impact that often has on a spouse's ability to pursue his or her career.
That's where we come in! We focus on three key areas of enrichment: literacy, STEM, and wellness. We fund individual experiences (like STEM camp tuition and travel expenses) as well as group opportunities (like enriching field trips) for active duty military kids.
We've seen firsthand the hardships faced by military kids. They are incredibly resilient! We want to say THANK YOU to them for their service by ensuring money is not a barrier to them pulling the thread on their interests and pursuing their passions.
