METT Scholars seeks your generous donations so we can match a disadvantaged college STEM student with powerful computers and the software capable of performing the college STEM course work and projects.
Problem: Matriculation and retention of minority, women, and veteran students in STEM college majors is challenging.
This is a national strategic issue for many countries - both societally and economically as our jobs STEM are moving offshores due to a lack of trained talent in the US.
Further, minorities and women are vastly under-represented in college STEM majors and the following careers world-wide. This may lead to missed opportunities for innovation.
Cause: Access to computers powerful enough for these majors is costly and may not be available to these students. The software for STEM courses can also be pricy - whether it is course-specific or generic like Matlab. During COVID, many disadvantaged college STEM students changed majors because of a lack of resources - how can one do advanced math, programming, or CAD simulations on a smartphone?
Solution: METT Scholars has partnered with several computer manufacturers and STEM software vendors to purchase their products for our beneficiaries at a 50% or better discount. METT Scholars is currently partnered with 25 HBCU, HSI, and other Minority Serving Institutes to help identify the students in need. Your donations have twice the purchasing power as a direct donation and is guarantied to benefit someone who needs it.
Together with your donations, we can begin to grow our STEM workforce pipeline by giving disadvantaged college STEM majors the tools they need to succeed in their dream careers.
Thank you for your generosity!
