Each year, Socks for the Streets hosts our Annual Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway, ensuring that children in our community start the school year with confidence, dignity, and the tools they need to succeed.
Through this initiative, we support 500+ children annually by providing brand-new backpacks filled with essential school supplies—helping to ease the financial burden on families and set students up for a strong start. For many of the families we serve, these supplies are not guaranteed, and this event makes a meaningful difference in a child’s ability to walk into school prepared and proud.
What makes this program even more impactful is that it is youth-led. Young volunteers play a vital role in packing backpacks, organizing supplies, and distributing them during the event. This not only supports children in need but also empowers the next generation to give back, lead with compassion, and strengthen their communities.
