Vallecitos Mountain Retreat Center is of the deep woods. Like the wild horses who gather in this valley, our Dharma is of the body. It unbridles our hearts from the separation that perpetuates our suffering. Like the beavers who weave their homes amidst swift-running rivers, our teachings are of this world. They support the realization of our interconnectedness and the blossoming of natural compassion. Like the quartzite ridges that hold us in fierce tenderness, we return to our deepest belonging. And like the ripple of the wild grasses in the wind, we rest in the waves of our own experience. At Vallecitos, we place our wise attention within the heart of awareness -- the deep well of stillness that gives rise to insight and liberation.
Vallecitos Mountain Retreat Center is a wilderness refuge in Northern New Mexico that offers retreats from May to October. Grounded in the sacred teachings of deep Dharma, our roots are in Vipassana practice and the lineage of Theravadan Buddhism for which we acknowledge thousands of years of transmission and preservation by the hands of female and male monastics, masters and teachers, learned laypeople, and lay supporters -- past and present -- across Southeast Asia.
