Willow's Wish has five main goals. One of these missions is to help promote animal welfare education and another is to encourage sustainable solutions as alternatives to the consumption of dogs (and animals in general). Project Giving Garden aims to achieve both of these goals.
This program will help build a sustainable garden to feed this small village community located about 2 hours north of Siem Reap, Cambodia. We were introduced to a very kind man named Min Bunhak who lives nearby and tries to help this community with supplies but has been wanting to implement a large scale garden and teach the residents how to grow their own vegetables. The children of this community are taught English on a weekly basis at the one school that is there. We have gained the cooperation from this teacher to expand their program so that we can pilot a new animal welfare/care program for not only the children but anyone in the community who would like to participate.
Cambodia is making such amazing progress with their ban of the consumption of dog meat in the Siem Reap Province that we wanted to expand on this as a means of supporting their efforts towards change.
