Haiti’s humanitarian situation is deteriorating. For the past few years, the country has been engulfed by a socio-economic, political, and humanitarian crisis that has reached new and alarming levels since mid-September 2022. More than 19,000 people in Haiti are experiencing hunger at a catastrophic level. Another 4 million people are facing severe food insecurity.
Gangs are blocking the main oil terminal of Varreux in Port-au-Prince, and the country’s oil supply is now cut off, with drastic consequences on the power supply and water distribution. The impact on people’s access to essential goods and services, including food, water, and health, is devastating for the most vulnerable. Health facilities have been forced to reduce their services or close their doors — a worrisome development, as cholera resurfaced in Haiti in October and could spread nationally. We have created this fund to provide relief to survivors through emergency supplies like food, water, and medicine, in addition to longer-term recovery assistance to help residents recover and rebuild. SOLIDARIEDADE NA MOKILI, a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization, works to save lives, defeat poverty and provide tools for sustainable change to the people most vulnerable to hunger, violence, and disease.
