Silence the Shame, Inc. is a national non-profit organization founded by Music Executive Veteran Shanti Das, dedicated to eliminating mental health stigma and reducing health disparities and suicide rates among vulnerable populations. normalize the conversation, peel back the layers of shame, and promote mental wellness for vulnerable and disparate population groups, including people with high-stress jobs,
communities of color, LGBTQ+ population, older adults and rural communities.
Programs
Workplace Wellness Program is a job industry-specific mental health education seminar series on understanding mental health, recognizing mental crisis signs and symptoms, accessing behavioral health resources, and promoting healthy living in the community and the workplace.
Conversations & Care is a community engagement program to increase health literacy, eliminate mental health stigma and promote regular self-care for good mental health. Conversations are designed to normalize discussions about mental health, trauma, suicide, and social determinants of health. In addition, attendees participate in self-care wellness activities, i.e., yoga, meditation, cardio, or fitness, to learn stress management techniques and promote social connectedness.
Silence the Shame University (STSU) is a mental health college ambassador program to connect students to behavioral health resources and promote social connectedness on campus to improve academic achievement. In addition, the goals are to enhance mental health education and partnerships to promote professional help for young adults.
The Youth Mental Wellness Community Outreach & Practice Effort (COPE) Clinic is an immersive experience of panel discussions, wellness workshops, and vocational activities for youth. Teens 12-19 years of age learn to understand mental health, recognize signs and symptoms of crisis, and learn practical coping skills for managing stress. Caregivers engage in a guided conversation with a skilled clinician to develop ideas to support resilient teens.
