The BexarFest Expansion Project, is a transformative multimedia initiative designed to prepare high school students for career opportunities ignited by this growth and connect local nonprofits with powerful storytelling tools.
Slated to officially launch in August 2026, BexarFest 2.0 is a two-sided program that combines a TEKS-aligned digital media curriculum with a public-facing, juried film festival. During the 2025–2026 development year, activities will include finalizing curriculum modules, securing school and nonprofit partnerships, building a sponsorship framework, and designing festival infrastructure—complete with branding, jury protocols, venue selection, and marketing materials.
The public benefits are significant:
• Youth empowerment and workforce readiness, especially for underserved students, in a burgeoning state industry;
• Elevated visibility and resources for nonprofits through student-created content;
• Community enrichment and cultural celebration via an inclusive film festival that showcases creativity, civic engagement, and collaboration across age groups and backgrounds.
By aligning student skills with statewide economic opportunity, the BexarFest Expansion Project ensures that the media jobs coming to Texas will lift up homegrown talent and strengthen local communities.
With the passage of Texas Senate Bill 22 and its historic $300 million investment in the state’s film industry, the BexarFest Expansion Project is being developed at a pivotal moment—just as demand for multimedia talent is poised to reach unprecedented levels across Texas.
