The annual A is for Aerospace program is a half-day immersive, hands-on learning experience that incorporates the principles of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) for the community's youngest learners. PreK-2nd grade students rotate through various stations at the NAEC that introduce them to aviation concepts and aerospace careers in a visually stimulating and active environment. Like other NAEC programs, it also allows young children to meet veterans and aviation experts who illustrate possible careers and share how aerospace skills are vital to our nation's security and safety. As the students progress through the program, they will encounter aviation and space experiences through activities focusing on aerospace careers, veteran meet-and-greets, and historic vehicles and aircraft. Students rotate from station to station within the facility and create several STEAM-related products to take home at the end of the experience. By putting the tools in their hands, young learners gain knowledge while exploring various career opportunities in the aerospace industry. Throughout the program, students practice 21st-century career skills, such as communication, collaboration, citizenship, and creativity.
