Outdoor Buddies was founded by representatives of Craig Hospital and the Colorado Division of Wildlife. Originally, the organization focused on a need to find therapeutic recreational opportunities for patients who had suffered debilitating spinal cord injuries. Through the years, Outdoor Buddies has expanded its programs to assist mobility-disabled persons from all walks of life and has implemented a youth program. Outdoor Buddies, Inc. was registered in 1988 as a Nonprofit Corporation under the law of Colorado and has continually complied with all applicable requirements of the office of the Colorado Secretary of State. The Internal Revenue Service has recognized Outdoor Buddies as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
Outdoor Buddies was founded in 1984. Its mission is to “Provide opportunities through a volunteer organization, for those who have been deprived of enjoying outdoor experiences.” These opportunities are available to all, with no cost, other than personal expenses, and no discrimination due to race, color, creed, religion, sex, or family status.
