Seeking to put God's love into action we bring people together to build homes, community, and hope. Our vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
Habitat for Humanity of Lake-Sumter, Florida serves both Lake and Sumter Counties within the heart of central Florida by providing affordable housing solutions. On average, we build 10 new homes every year and repair & preserve another 45 homes. Although our direct service goes straight into Lake and Sumter counties, our reach extends internationally through a 10% annual tithe. Since our inception 30 years ago, we have partnered to build over 135 homes in Mexico, Haiti & Honduras.
Our Service Programs:
1) Home Ownership
Serves partner families by providing an opportunity for home ownership of a
safe, decent, and affordable home.
2) Preservation & Repair
Serves existing homeowners through major and minor home repair
services to maintain the safety and affordability of their home.
3) Veterans Housing Initiative
Serves our Veteran community by providing unique housing and critical repair
services designed specifically for veteran/military families.
4) Domestic Global Village
Provides opportunities for individual and community enrichment through
the engagement of volunteers. The Domestic Global Village is a volunteer
center that allows Habitat to extend their reach into the community.
5) Youth Construction Academy
We know that vocational skills are just as much a path to financial stability and
security as anything else, this program aims to give students an early exposure to
the construction industry and is designed to provide a hands-on
education in valuable technical skills.
6) Inmate Construction Academy
This program offers voluntary participation for select inmates from the Lake County
Jail with an opportunity to learn on a Habitat for Humanity job site, acquiring valuable
skills within the construction industry while giving back to their community.
Encouraging successful transition back into the community by enabling
access to job opportunities.
