The library supports the hunger relief throughout the county. We are a reliable host for Summer Food for children up to age 18 (since 2016), serving breakfast and lunch from the time schools let out for the summer until it resumes in the fall. Further, the Social Worker in the Library program networks with local agencies to alleviate food scarcity and helps families apply for SNAP or other food related services. We also initiated a Recipes & Reads Culinary Lab program to educate and demonstrate how to handle food, read recipes, find food through alternative venues, shop on a budget and stretch meals.
