In remote, impoverished corners of our world, a lack of access to healthcare causes needless suffering and death. Preventable illnesses and treatable injuries threaten the lives of those who cannot afford treatment or are unable to reach a hospital or clinic.
Mission hospitals strive to fill these gaps in medical care, but are often overburdened and underequipped to meet the tremendous needs of the populations they serve. Without adequate equipment or specialized training, there are limits to what can be accomplished by the hard work and ingenuity of missionary doctors.
World Medical Mission—the medical arm of Samaritan's Purse—supports mission hospitals in nearly 40 countries worldwide by coordinating short-term volunteer trips for Christian physicians and providing desperately-needed medical equipment and supplies. As we partner with these hospitals to treat physical illness and injury, lives are saved and patients' hearts are opened to the healing power of Jesus Christ.
