Who We Are
HLAA is the nation’s leading organization dedicated to people with hearing loss. Founded 46 years ago by Rocky Stone, HLAA has grown into a lively community with thousands of members, local chapters, and national programs. HLAA supports older adults, veterans, and people of all ages who experience hearing loss.
Why Hearing Health Matters
Hearing health affects more than just the ability to hear. It impacts emotional well-being, independence, and quality of life. Untreated hearing loss can lead to social isolation, depression, falls, and loss of connection with people. Better hearing is better thinking.
Early detection, regular check-ups, and timely intervention can improve communication, safety, and overall well-being. Community programs, advocacy, and access to technology ensure people are supported and connected. By raising awareness and reducing stigma, HLAA empowers individuals to take action, maintain independence and live fully engaged lives.
Our Work
HLAA empowers individuals and families through education, advocacy, and a nationwide network of 120 support chapters. Last year alone, HLAA reached more than 5 million people, provided trusted resources to 20,000+ seeking hearing aid guidance, and raised $20 million through Walk4Hearing to strengthen community programs.
Your support helps us:
Expand access to affordable hearing technology and care
Promote early detection and regular hearing check-ups
Strengthen grassroots advocacy for accessibility and inclusion
Reduce stigma so individuals can stay independent and engaged
