The Fallen Outdoors is a veteran-run, all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to connecting Veterans, Service Members, and Gold Star families through the great outdoors. Our mission is to provide no-cost therapeutic outdoor adventures for those who have served or are currently serving, as well as Gold Star families. By fostering connection, camaraderie, and shared experiences, we aim to combat the crisis of Veteran suicide. Through these adventures, we help Veterans and Service Members develop new skills and a lifelong passion, ensuring they always have a community to turn to.
Guided Hunting, Fishing Trips & Various Outdoor Adventures
TFO organizes free hunting and fishing trips for Veterans and Service Members, including deer, turkey, and waterfowl hunts, as well as deep-sea and freshwater fishing excursions. We also offer horseback riding, golfing, forging events, and many other outdoor adventures. These activities provide opportunities for camaraderie, skill-building, and healing through outdoor therapy.
Suicide Prevention & Peer Support
While not a formal counseling program, TFO fosters a strong support network where Veterans can share their struggles, find guidance, and break the cycle of isolation, depression, and PTSD-related challenges. The camaraderie formed through these experiences often leads to lasting friendships and a support system that extends beyond the field or water.
Veteran Mentorship & Outdoor Education
Many TFO events focus on teaching essential outdoor skills, including: Firearm safety and responsible hunting practices Fishing techniques for various environments Survival skills and land navigation Conservation and wildlife management These educational experiences empower Veterans and Service Members to develop skills they can enjoy throughout their lives while building a greater connection to nature.
