Keep our food truck rolling! The food we pick up from area groceries for the pantry we operate for our neighbors is donated. The gas we fill the van with is not.
来自 MIDTOWN FAMILY SERVICESMidtown Family Services' Food pantry is open to current clients, all of whom have no or very low income, Monday through Friday, and low income members of the neighborhood-at-large Tuesday and Friday, from 9:00am to 5:00pm. On average, 197 persons, picking up food for about 700 persons, come through each week. Items distributed include frozen meat, milk and other dairy, eggs, 12-15 varieties of produce, rice, pasta, lentils, beans, plus whatever odd items markets send our way plus naloxone, fentanyl test strips, covid tests, and hygiene products.
We make 2 food donation pickups per day Mondays through Thursdays and one pickup per day on Fridays from local grocery stores or the Second Harvest of Silicon Valley Warehouse on Avenue in San Jose, traversing 103 miles on average each week. $3,500.00 will pay for 1 year of food donation pickups assuming the average number of miles traversed each week (103) and the Standard Federal Mileage Rate for 2025 of .70 cents per mile. Total mileage being paid for will be 5,356.
