Plastics are a climate issue. But we don’t know how much they contribute to global heating - only that the impacts are undercounted, significant, and growing. The Plastics & Climate Project is working to make sure that all the impacts are measured, modeled, and mitigated. No other organization is filling this need.
We have analyzed what the science tells us, identified the data gaps, and recommended the research and actions needed to fill them. Now we are sharing the story of the links between plastics and climate change, advancing the science, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure that plastics' climate impacts are included in climate models, accounting, and policies from the local to the international levels. See The Plastics & Climate Project website for our publications and more information.
