Veterans' Tribute Park Overview
Honoring Our Veterans
Our Veterans' Tribute Park is designed as a place for friends, family, and community members to gather, reflect, and appreciate the remarkable service and sacrifices made by military veterans for our country. At the heart of the park, a Lockheed T33 jet trainer stands proudly on a pedestal, symbolizing the enduring spirit of our veterans. Its outstretched wings provide a watchful presence over the ceramic tribute tiles that are thoughtfully arranged on a wall below.
Ceramic Tribute Tiles and Stories
Each tribute tile features a photograph and service details of a veteran, allowing visitors to connect with the personal histories behind the names. While these images and facts offer insight, they only capture part of each veteran’s journey. To provide a richer experience, the Freedom of Flight Museum takes the basic information provided by families and organizes video interview sessions with the veterans themselves. These interviews cover topics such as basic training, station assignments, military roles, and any other memories or stories the veteran wishes to share. In cases where the veteran is no longer with us, the museum crafts a meaningful story based on the family’s information.
Interactive Experience
Once the video and tribute tile are complete, a QR code is engraved on the tile. Visitors can use their mobile devices to scan the code and watch the veteran’s story while at the park. Additionally, these videos are available on the museum’s YouTube page, ensuring that the stories are accessible to a wider audience.
Future Plans
In the second phase of development, the Veterans' Tribute Park will include an observation deck and a children’s play area, further enhancing the park as a welcoming and meaningful destination for all.
