NSS is in the opportunity business. We create opportunities to transform the lives of adults and their families through high-income, interesting, and engaging work in technology. Our accelerated, skills-based vocational training opens doors to tech careers for adults with aptitude and motivation. We are focused on providing an alternative pathway to tech careers for those who are financially disadvantaged or underemployed and/or are members of groups that are underrepresented in tech (e.g. women, people of color, veterans).
We lower financial barriers in various ways, most notably through our innovative, shared risk Opportunity Tuition plan, which combines a scholarship and tuition that is deferred until a student graduates and finds a first job in tech (and is forgiven if the student doesn’t graduate or secure their first tech job).
At NSS, support for our students includes extensive career preparation that is integrated into their training programs as well as career mentoring and placement support that extend past graduation until they secure their first tech jobs - and beyond. Our goal is for every graduate to become an active part of the local tech creative community. We have also pursued and nurtured extensive relationships with employers in all sectors of the Nashville regional economy in order to keep our programs aligned with evolving local workforce needs.
