WHAT IS OSCAR MIKE?
The term “Oscar Mike” comes from military radio jargon that was used on the front lines of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It translates to “On the Move”.
Being on the move, or “Oscar Mike,” is also about finding a sense of purpose through adaptive sports and starting a journey to independence — one that leads to better physical and mental health.
To Veterans like Oscar Mike’s Founder Noah Currier, who served during the invasion of Iraq, being Oscar Mike means being active, staying positive, and living life to its absolute fullest, despite the many challenges he has encountered as a result of his disability.
Oscar Mike is a FAMILY of veterans, athletes, artists, and patriotic Americans from all walks of life who embody the spirit of hard work on which our nation was founded.
We strive to overcome adversity and challenges with purpose, a can-do attitude, and a relentlessness that captures the human spirit.
We believe in empathy versus sympathy; we champion understanding over pity; we conquer sadness, despair, and anger with a joy for life, camaraderie, perspective, purpose, and hope.
