Pony Express, Inc., shall take and maintain a leadership role in interpreting, preserving, promoting, and enhancing the legend and legacy of the Pony Express as it originated in St. Joseph, Missouri, so as to provide educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities for present and future generations.

Pumpkinfest is an annual fundraising event, the proceeds of which support the museum's ongoing operational expenses, especially during the slower months when tourism is down.
