GRITs Veteran and Senior Resources

GRIT’s Veteran & Senior Resources (GVSR) is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to empowering veterans, active-duty military members, their families, and senior citizens by connecting them to vital programs, trusted community partners, and life-enhancing resources.

Founded by Jason Abshire, RN, BSN, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Chief Operating Officer of Home Instead – Abilene, GVSR was created to bridge the gap between those who serve and the local support systems available to them. Through outreach, education, and collaborative initiatives, GVSR promotes independence, wellness, and dignity among the populations it serves.

Key initiatives include the Taylor County Active-Duty Military, Veterans, Family, and Senior Resource Fair, caregiver recognition programs, and partnerships with organizations such as Dyess Air Force Base, the Wounded Warrior Project, and local health providers.
GVSR’s mission is simple but powerful: to connect, support, and strengthen those who have given so much to their country and community.
